A NovaVu insert consists of double-pane clear polycarbonate that is gasketed and mounted within an integrated structural frame. Each window is custom measured, allowing the insert to be manufactured for a precise fit. The custom-made insert is installed into the interior frame of an existing window without the need for cutting, drilling, or caulking. Polycarbonate offers high optical clarity and can be supplied in various grades of clarity, thickness, and tints, depending on the application, orientation, and size. The advanced gasketing material resists extreme heat and cold, steam, ozone, and weather conditions, while also being open and breathable to help reduce condensation. |

Creating thermal barriersHeat and cold travel through solid objects like windowpanes and window frames by conduction. Windows feel cold in winter because glass is a good conductor of heat (and cold). Newer windows often have two panes of glass with an airspace trapped between them because gas is a poor conductor of heat and cold. The more airspaces between the indoors and outdoors, the less heat or cold is transferred between the two.
NovaVu window inserts help keep outdoor temperatures out and indoor temperatures in by adding two extra airspaces to existing windows. As shown in the figure below, it’s easy to see how one airspace is created between the existing window and the NovaVu insert, and the advanced, double-pane design of the insert creates a third airspace.

Sealing out draftsDrafty windows can feel especially uncomfortable during winter. Drafts mainly occur when air leaks through gaps in the window frames or in the glazing that holds the panes in place. Cold glass and window frames can also create thermal air currents that feel like a draft. When warm air meets cold glass and frames, it cools down, becomes heavier, and sinks, creating what seems like an invisible flow of cold air.
NovaVu inserts address both types of drafts. Third-party testing of NovaVu insert’s advanced gasketing material confirms that it reduces air infiltration by 99% or more. Additionally, the thermal barriers created by the insert virtually eliminate the chances of thermal drafts caused by cold windowpanes and frames.

Warm winters & cool summersWindow performance is just as important in hot weather as it is in cold. During summer, windows face more than outdoor heat; the Sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation is stronger and lasts longer than in winter. Fading and damaging walls, floor coverings, and furniture, UV rays often add a significant heat load to your air-conditioning system. Draperies, shades, and blinds do a poor job of preventing UV radiation from heating indoor spaces, and they also ruin the view. They simply absorb the UV rays, heat up, and then transfer that heat into your indoor space.
